Fireplaces

Tiles: 3 or 4 depending on width of fireplace

Lockdowns: Minimum of 25, more depending on width of fireplace and mantle decorations

Supplies needed:

  • Wooden benches (20 for narrow fireplace, 22 for wide fireplace) or raw ore (varies according to colors used and fireplace width, see instructions to estimate)

  • Receiver Crystal of Communication (1 for narrow fireplace, 2 for wide fireplace)

  • Gold coins (6 for narrow fireplace, 12 for wide fireplace)

  • Raw colored ore (color of ore depends on preference, shadow makes good coal - you'll need 2 for a narrow fireplace or 3 for a wide one)

  • Fish steaks to use as spacers (or an interior design tool)

  • Optional decorative items to place on top of mantle

Instructions:

These instructions are for the wide (4 tile) fireplace, to make it more narrow leave out one of the middle tiles (the inside of the fireplace would take up 1 tile instead of 2).

Wooden Fireplace

1. Stack nine wooden benches in the first tile and lock them down.

2. In the next tile, place 6 gold coins and lock them down.

3. On top of that, stack one communication crystal and lock it down.

4. On top of that, stack 1 raw colored ore (shadow makes good coal) and lock it down.

5. On top of that, stack 5 individual fish steaks (stack them one at a time).

6. On top of that, stack two benches and lock them down.

7. In the next tile, stack 6 gold coins, one communication crystal, and 2 colored ore (the same color as in the last tile) and lock them all down.

8. Stack 5 fish steaks on top of that.

9. Stack two benches on top of that and lock them down.

10. Stack nine benches in the next tile and lock them all down.

Now you have an undecorated fireplace (the fish steaks will decay and disappear after a while - give them time). One way to decorate your fireplace is to display things on top of the mantle (if they won't sit exactly where you want them to you can use fish steaks as spacers or use an interior decorating tool to raise them).

Another way to make a wooden fireplace more decorative is to alternate runebooks with benches on the outside tiles so that the fireplace has built in bookshelves (stack one bench, one runebook, one bench, one runebook, one bench, one runebook, three benches).

Something else you can do to make a wooden fireplace more attractive is to dye the top two benches of each tile so that the mantle is a different color than the rest of the fireplace (as seen in the title picture at the top of the page).

Stone Fireplace

1. In the first tile, stack the following in order locking them down as you go (you can use different colored ore if you prefer) 2 iron ore, 1 dull copper ore, 2 agapite ore, 1 iron ore, 2 dull copper ore, 1 agapite ore, 2 iron ore, 1 dull coper ore, 2 agapite ore.

2. In the next tile, stack 6 gold coins, one communicator crystal, and 1 shadow ore, locking them all down as you go.

3. On top of that stack five fish steaks.

4. On top of that stack 1 dull copper ore and 2 agapite ore, locking them all down.

5. In the next tile, stack 6 gold coins, one communicator crystal, and 2 shadow ore, locking them all down.

6. Stack five fish steaks on top of that.

7. Stack 1 dull copper ore and 2 agapite ore on top of that, locking them all down.

8. In the next tile, stack in order (locking them down as you go) 2 iron ore, 1 dull copper ore, 2 agapite ore, 1 iron ore, 2 dull copper ore, 1 agapite ore, 2 iron ore, 1 dull copper ore, and 2 agapite ore.

You can decorate a stone fireplace in the same ways you decorate a wooden one; try placing things on the mantle or mounting things on the fronts of the side pillars.
